Following Paul Robeson's Footsteps

Following Paul Robeson's Footsteps

Nigerian-born Tayo Aluko passed through a Dorset boarding school in the late 1970s on the way to working as an architect for several years. A chance conversation led to him discovering the story of Paul Robeson, and that would send him on a very different life path: one that has taken him around the world, literally, with his Robeson-inspired play.

In this presentation, Aluko seeks to explain how better-known civil-rights figures are following in Robeson’s own footsteps. With recent developments in America and elsewhere, the journey’s end still remains elusive, and he asks, “which way now?”

Includes songs and pictures.
